The Trans-Siberian Railway turns 100
A hundred years is no small achievement. The railway line connecting Russia from end to end, the Trans-Siberian Railway, celebrates 100 years since its completion. On 5 October 1916, the final section of Eurasia’s most famous railway was finished. A bridge across the Amur River at Khabarovsk completed the last stretch of the main line of the Trans-Siberian. A bridge whose size earned it the name “Miracle of the Amur” in its day, and the final piece of a monumental engineering project.
