October transforms Europe. Forests begin to change colour, temperatures become more comfortable for walking, and many destinations regain their tranquillity after summer.
Three different ways to enjoy autumn travel in Europe.
Would you like to travel to Costa Rica this autumn? We have places available on the 1 October departure of our Costa Rica trip. A route between volcanoes, national parks, the Caribbean and the Pacific, following Tuareg’s active style.
Nature, hiking and some of the most spectacular landscapes in the country.
A selection of October trips with fewer crowds and queues, following our commitment to sustainable tourism.
Walk in lesser-known corners of the Baltics; discover the wildlife in Tanzania; discover Albania, Europe’s least-known country, or explore the island of Madeira through forests and along cliffs. Choosing a destination also means choosing what we will do when we get there.
Shorter queues, lower prices and better weather are some of the advantages of travelling in autumn.
Many places are especially appealing at this time of year. If you are planning an autumn break and don’t know where to go, we have prepared a list of some of the best destinations for fewer crowds, better prices and less heat.
Accompanied by José Rubal, a guide who has lived in the country for more than 12 years, we will discover all that Hungary has to offer.
Combining walking, train journeys and a cruise along the Danube, we will discover Hungary’s treasures: its rich ancient and recent history and wonderful natural settings. Beyond Budapest lies an authentic, little-known Hungary of picturesque towns, castles, countryside and national parks.
Travel now or leave it for another time? There are different points of view, and each has some merit.
On behalf of Viajes Tuareg, as travel professionals, we simply do what we know: suggest itineraries where the authorities so authorize and adapt the type of trip to current health requirements.
Here are our proposals for the coming months of September and October.
Our correspondent in Mingalarbar, Myanmar, sends us news that the main tourist sites are gradually reopening.
We are pleased to announce that more tourist sites are opening for domestic travel in Myanmar. Our government is gradually easing restrictions on domestic travellers and opening tourist sites in Bagan, Hpa-an, Inle, Kalaw, Pindaya and Loikaw to local visitors.
As the saying goes, September is the month for the rich, but perhaps October is one of our favourite months for travel. As autumn begins, many of our destinations take on distinctive colours, displaying shades you will not see at other times of year.
For those lucky enough to travel in October, visitors even seem to receive better treatment, with fewer people queuing and fewer visitors at the main attractions.
With the arrival of autumn the trekking season in the Himalayas and northern Southeast Asia welcomes the end of the monsoons and the arrival of winter. In South America, it is an ideal time to travel, similar to our month of June, with few visitors and more affordable prices at the main tourist attractions.

For lovers of unspoilt nature, we have organized this trip to Brazil in October travelling up the Amazon River from Manaus to the Anavilhanas Archipelago, deep in the jungle.
> Small Group Trip to Brazil > Amazon expedition trip: 13 days > Trip departing on 13 October
On board a regional boat equipped for trips and expeditions in the Amazon, we will travel up its tributaries to meet indigenous communities, see pink dolphins and take canoe trips through the flooded forest.

Ships have all possible comforts for expeditions of this type and we are accompanied by a crew and, at times, local guides who will introduce us to life in the Amazon river communities. They usually have two decks, and cabins with toilets can be booked depending on the size of the group. Built from wood, they are simple and comfortable.

The Amazon River is Manaus’s main transport artery.
The Amazon is immense and unstoppable. Leaving its main channel behind, we find the jungle we were hoping for among the tributaries and waterways.

During the trip, we anchor the boat in quiet stretches of the Apuau River, which will serve as our “base camp” for several days.
At night, those who wish can leave the safety of the boat and camp in the jungle: an explosion of sounds, smells, darkness and caimans… a real face-to-face encounter with nature.

The recent trip to Japan taken by our colleague Àlex, one of his many visits to the Land of the Rising Sun, he brought back some impressive photographs of the Naruto whirlpools, where Japan’s Inland Sea meets the Pacific Ocean.
This curious natural phenomenon is common and regular in the Naruto Strait. Why does this happen? What causes the whirlpools?
