Five trips for Easter 2027: from the Baltic States to Cappadocia, the Caucasus and Central Asia.
Five trips for Easter 2027: from the Baltic States to Cappadocia, the Caucasus and Central Asia.
What is the best time to travel to Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia? It depends on how you want to discover the Baltic countries.
Vilnius, Riga and Tallinn are the thread running through our journeys, but the landscape changes with the seasons. In spring, forests and wetlands awaken; around the solstice, the days seem endless; summer brings nature at its most vibrant; and autumn fills the national parks with ochre, red and gold.
Not everyone can start their holiday on 1 August. For many of us, the second half of the month is the perfect time to switch off and discover new destinations.
We have prepared a selection of routes around Europe with departures between 15 and 22 August where there are still places available.
We all know the «classics” of Europe: Paris, Rome, London… Incredible places, of course! But what if I told you there is a whole world to discover beyond the usual circuits? At Viatges Tuareg, we love showing you that “other” Europe, with its authenticity and charm.
Prepare to be surprised by Albania and North Macedonia, Latvia, Romania and Moldova.
Discover the different cetacean species found in the waters of the Azores, from resident dolphins and sperm whales to migratory species such as fin whales and even the largest animal on the planet, the blue whale.
One departure on 6 June, with places available
June is one of the best months for hiking in Europe. Temperatures are pleasant, the days are longer and spring is at its peak. Many destinations are still quiet before the summer rush, making it an ideal time to explore spectacular landscapes and discover local cultures on an active trip.
Walks and hikes in Europe in June, with routes designed for those who enjoy exploring on foot.
There are still places in Europe waiting for an opportunity to be discovered. And so it is with Albania; with a slightly smaller area than that of Catalonia or Galicia, the Republic of Albania remains one of Europe's least-known countries.
Since the end of a long dictatorship in 1991, Albania has begun opening up to the world, gradually revealing its hidden treasures. Today, we share images of a country with a distinctive, authentic character: unspoilt beaches with crystal-clear waters, mountains, historic cities and villages that preserve their traditions.
For hiking and trekking enthusiasts, we have an excellent range of trips for the coming autumn months. In this post, we highlight trekking routes across Europe (including Georgia, which is in Asia), with ideal weather for walking and fewer crowds than in summer.
Iceland is a unique country, full of stunning places to explore: majestic waterfalls, icy glaciers, hot springs and black sand beaches. All this comes from the island’s position on tectonic plates, making it a geological and geothermal wonder and a gift for travellers.
A few places remain for those who want a hiking holiday this summer and have yet to choose their destination.
Most of these trekking and hiking trips across Europe include easy walks, accessible to anyone in reasonable physical condition. However, some itineraries, such as the Dinaric Alps in Albania and Montenegro or the crossing of Madeira from Porto da Cruz to Porto Moniz, are classified as treks and are aimed at fit people accustomed to mountain walking.
A cultural and hiking trip exploring lesser-known Greece. We leave Athens to visit the Oracle of Delphi, explore the monasteries of Meteora, Vikos Gorge and Mount Olympus, then return to Athens.
Departures in spring and autumn, during the months of May, June, September and October.
Imagine walking along Baltic trails, through wildflower meadows with breathtaking panoramic views. Spring offers ideal conditions: pleasant temperatures, longer days and the chance to admire the flora and fauna at their finest.
Two years ago, we launched a new hiking route on the beautiful island of Madeira. After successfully leading our well-known “Senderismo nas Leivadas” trip for several years, Filipe, who knows the island’s trails intimately, suggested an exciting challenge for experienced hikers: a traverse from Machico to Porto Moniz, crossing the island’s peaks and central plateau.
Albania surprises anyone who delves into its culture, gets to know its people and discovers its untouched landscapes. Like Iran, it is one of those countries about which we have preconceived ideas, prompting travellers to reset their expectations and start from 0 when they get there.
The former Soviet Union was dissolved and the Berlin Wall fell, but Albania continued to resist reforms for years.
The mix of bunkers, fourth-hand Mercedes-Benz cars, codes of honour (the incomparable Kanun) and former communists we encounter leaves no one indifferent; Tirana could even be called modern (it is!), but What we like most about Albania are the scenes that remind us of our own past, not so many years ago. Mmm... those generous servings of aniseed spirits and liqueurs at the village bar.
Accompanied by José Rubal, a guide who has lived in the country for more than 12 years, we will discover all that Hungary has to offer.
Combining walking, train journeys and a cruise along the Danube, we will discover Hungary’s treasures: its rich ancient and recent history and wonderful natural settings. Beyond Budapest lies an authentic, little-known Hungary of picturesque towns, castles, countryside and national parks.
Georgia straddles two great continents: Europe and Asia. Although its history dates back to the 11th century, Georgia was part of the former USSR for many years. It gained independence in 1991 with the fall of the Soviet Union.
It borders Russia, Turkey, Armenia and Azerbaijan and Tbilisi as its capital. A beautiful city of 1.4 million inhabitants, set among mountains on the banks of the Kura River. The city’s name comes from the word Tpli, which in Georgian means hot water and which refers to the presence of sulphurous and thermal waters.
Accompanied by an expert and staying in strategically located 3 and 4-star hotels, we travel through southern Iceland. A perfect combination of excursions and Northern Lights watching.
In Iceland, October marks the start of the strongest northern lights activity; the best time to see them is between December and March
For winter 2021/22, we suggest a short trip (a 5-day break) to discover Kyiv and Chernobyl.
In April 1986, reactor IV at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant exploded, causing the greatest nuclear accident in history. Thirty-five years later, nature has reclaimed what humans abandoned.
Walking takes you anywhere, step by step, slowly savouring the journey. Paradoxically, walking is one of the best ways to escape mass tourism and crowds when We travel through Europe.
