Two years ago, we launched a new hiking route on the beautiful island of Madeira. After successfully leading our well-known “Senderismo nas Leivadas” trip for several years, Filipe, who knows the island’s trails intimately, suggested an exciting challenge for experienced hikers: a traverse from Machico to Porto Moniz, crossing the island’s peaks and central plateau.

For Easter in 2024, we offer you an exciting trekking tour of the captivating island of Madeira, where you can enjoy breathtaking landscapes and spectacular walks. The difficulty level of this six-day walk ranges from moderate to difficult, while being suitable for almost all fitness levels.
The tour follows partially the amazing route of the MIUT (Madeira Island Ultra Trail). The stages are designed for comfort, with dinner and a good night’s rest in a welcoming hotel each evening.
From Porto da Cruz to Porto Moniz
An exciting challenge for experienced walkers.
A sea-to-sea crossing over the island's peaks and central plateau. From Machico to Porto Moniz, we follow the old paths and levadas — irrigation channels — that once connected the island. Six days of moderate to demanding walks through forests and along cliffs reveal Madeira's most spectacular landscapes.

Madeira Ultra Trail
Madeira hosts one of the great endurance events: the Madeira Island Ultra-Trail (MIUT). Athletes come from around the world to tackle its dizzying trails and huge elevation changes. The terrain sets the challenge: the island rises steeply from the sea, with deep ravines opening from its central plateau.

Madeira is beautiful for walking, with accessible routes and a perfect climate for activities. The walks were varied and well designed, with an excellent local guide. An agency staff member also accompanied us, improving the trip and handling incidents well. Best of all were our fellow travellers and the great atmosphere.
