Can a northern lights sighting be guaranteed?

The Northern Lights are a natural phenomenon dependent on solar activity and weather conditions. We can choose the best place and time to maximise our chances of seeing them, but NO guarantee can be made that the northern lights will appear during a short period such as a holiday.

No one can guarantee when the Northern Lights will appear. Neither can we.

How we observe the northern lights at Viajes Tuareg

Our accommodation is outside Inari, near several viewing points. On arrival, we set up a messaging group for travellers, the guide and the local team. When there is activity, we send an alert: within minutes, we are outside looking for the aurora. Thermal overalls and boots help us withstand the cold.

The Northern Lights have no timetable, but we keep an eye on the forecasts.

Lapland doesn't start when night falls

We travel through Lapland and, when night falls, look to the sky for the northern lights.

The The northern lights are the main night-time event, but our Lapland trips offer more than waiting for darkness. There is plenty to do all day.
