We know a few places where the term “End of the World” makes sense. Some for geographical reasons, others for the feeling they evoke. These are places where you feel there is nothing beyond them. Separated from the Andes by vast, flat, semi-arid expanses, the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta It rises to an altitude of 5,775 metres just 42 km from the Caribbean Sea, making it the highest coastal mountain range in the world.

10 reasons to want to travel to Colombia
10 moments of our trip that explain why we like Colombia so much
1. Tayku Indigenous Community
Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta
On our main route, we visit the Tayku Indigenous Community in the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, where the Kogui – descendants of the ancient Tayrona – welcome us and introduce us to their way of life and culture.

2. Kogui Ceremony
Guajira Peninsula
We'll meet the Kogui. The Mamo (spiritual authority) will explain to us his customs and the importance of protecting the earth they consider the "Heart of the World".

3. Hacienda El Ocaso
Salento
Many haciendas combine coffee growing with tourism. A visit (always rounded off with a tasting) introduces us to coffee cultivation, but above all reveals the owners’ attachment to the land and pioneering spirit, passed down from generation to generation.
On our itinerary, we visit the Buenos Aires farm in the Coffee Region, where we will discover all the secrets of coffee

4.- Wax palms
Cocora Valley
A unique landscape where the tallest wax palms on the planet grow. A mountain trail takes us across suspension bridges and streams into the mists of the cloud forest. We are at an altitude of 2,700 m.

5.- 6th Street
Salento
A typical Paisa town that has become one of the tourist centres of Antioquia. Colonial buildings with flower-filled balconies and colourful façades. Craft shops, cafés and the region’s characteristic cowboy hats.
As well as strolling through its colourful streets, we have time to climb to the viewpoint and try our hand at tejo.

6.- The Tropical Andes
Planes de San Rafael National Park
In San Rafael Park, the “Seed Rain” trail takes us into the cloud forest characteristic of the tropical Andes. The Santuario community manages the guides and visitor centre in this spectacular protected area.
We leave the tourist routes behind to stay at the visitor centre in Planes de San Rafael, a community tourism project.

7.- Tourists versus the Kogi
Sierra Nevada
Any time is a good time for a match against the local team in a country where El Pibe Valderrama is a role model. As the photo shows, a lack of suitable footwear is no excuse.
We do not promise a guaranteed football match, but the visit to the Tayku Community is a genuine encounter.

8.- San Juan de Guía Beach
Tayrona Park
The park stretches along the Caribbean coast, and motor vehicles are not allowed inside. A network of trails allows you to explore it and reach its beaches. Despite their idyllic appearance, not all are suitable for swimming.

9.- Getsemaní neighbourhood
Cartagena de Indias
Located in the historic centre but outside the city walls, the Getsemaní neighbourhood retains its alternative spirit. Alongside its colonial buildings, it is known for the street art with which Colombian artists have decorated its walls.
Urban art followed by a dance class: vallenato, salsa or champeta to the rhythm of the Caribbean!

10.- Cerro de Montserrate
Bogotá
The top of the hill (3,152 m) offers the best views of Bogotá. Here stands a sanctuary dedicated to the “Moreneta” (Colombia’s Black Madonna). It is a magical place for local people, associated with legends and unexplained events.
A perfect option to take advantage of the afternoon off. We recommend going up at sunset to see the city light up.
