Once again, extraordinary images show us the world through travellers' eyes. There are few conventional tourist postcard shots, and the quality is unusually high for a competition of this kind.
THE COMPETITION AND THE JURY
One hundred and eighty-four participants and almost 900 photographs in total. During the selection process, those of us who work at Viajes Tuareg choose our favourites, voting again and again until we reach the twenty finalists — twenty-one in this edition. These are then handed over to the jury, whose members this year are Ángel Martínez Bermejo and Rafa Pérez, who are responsible for the Kamaleon Travel blog.

«Something more than a rickshaw ride» taken in his trip to Myanmar
Despite its rather heavy processing, this photograph draws us into a place and a scene, making us want to know more about its subjects. Are they old acquaintances? Are they chatting about the heat to pass the time during the journey, or sharing confidences? If a photograph sparks our imagination and makes us invent stories, it is a good photograph.

2nd PRIZE – 500 € PALOMA BARREIRO
‘Happiness’ taken in its trip to Ethiopia
The simple but effective composition of “Happiness” makes us focus on the essentials. The sickle in the woman’s right hand connects her to the field she is crossing, but her smile and the gesture of her left arm take us to another reality, perhaps far removed from hard work in the fields. Direct light illuminates the field while leaving her face in shadow. Everything is in shadow except her smile, which is enough to draw us to her.
