This was the opening of this wonderful 2018 article by I. Merino in the newspaper El País. He spoke about the tigers of India’s Sundarbans region and their complicated relationship with humans. Although they are more numerous in the marshes of Bengal, the best opportunities to observe tigers in their natural habitat are in the reserves of central India.
Some of the Indian subcontinent’s protected areas are home to tigers that have survived the human population explosion.

Safaris in natural parks
National park tours take place in specially adapted vehicles, combining enjoyment of the landscape with the chance to see animals in their natural habitats.
The areas visited depend on weather and permits. Conditions vary with the season, particularly rainfall, which drives animals—mainly herbivores—from one area to another in search of water, followed by predators.
In Ranthambore National park, there are two safaris a day, one in the morning and one in the afternoon, each lasting 3 to 4 hours. Park opening hours depend on sunrise and sunset.
