Chad, destination for experienced travellers

Chad has always been a place where travelers say goodbye to their comfort zone and salute the adventure. The Art of Travel here is demanding in every sense of the word.

This, however, is part of the country's appeal: a chance to leave everything familiar behind and enter a place that promises experiences, good and bad, unlike those anywhere else. But if Chad is so demanding to travel through, why bother? Imagine sublime oases hidden in the northern deserts, vast herds of wildlife crossing national parks and the Lake Chad, with deep blue waters, awaiting the arrival of boats on its shores. In short, Chad is a country and a experience that you don't forget easily.

Ennedi | The northern frontier

The Ennedi houses some of the rock formations most beautiful and unusual in the world. The landscape is mostly flat, punctuated by great stone arches and jagged rock formations that resemble natural works of art. The area is difficult to reach and survival is challenging, as it requires careful planning and provisions. Those who venture here are rewarded with some of the natural landscapes most dazzling in the world.

The Archei guelta

La Guelta d’Archei is located on the Ennedi Plateau, in northeastern Chad, hidden behind a gorge. Its waters are protected by the imposing sandstone cliffs typical of this region. Every day, hundreds of camels are led into the guelta’s deep waters to drink and rest. The Guelta d’Archei is home to one of the last colonies of the Nile crocodile known in the Sahara.

Lakes of Ounianga

The landscape here is spectacular: lakes surrounded by palm trees that emerge from the sand, multicoloured sandstone formations and golden dunes that descend to the water, creating one of the Sahara’s most incredible settings. Fresh water wells up from underground, but the salty soil makes the lakes saline, with varying densities and colours: blue for the saltiest and green for the least salty.
