“Yellow fever” in Tanzania

Any authoritative opinion on the yellow fever?

We are receiving contradictory information about the yellow fever vaccine in Tanzania:

– The Ministry of Foreign Affairs website lists it as MANDATORY to be able to enter the country.

– The Ministry of Health website lists it as MANDATORY only for travellers from countries at risk of transmission.

– The World Health Organization’s website also indicates how MANDATORY only for travellers from countries at risk of transmissionAs far as entry formalities are concerned, we understand that a vaccination certificate will be required only for yellow fever if the traveller comes from a country listed by the WHO as having a “risk of transmission” of this disease. (Those arriving through Nairobi should note that Kenya IS considered a country with a risk of transmission.)

A separate question is whether vaccination is medically recommended or advisable.

In 2011, the WHO reviewed the situation of Tanzania and changed its classification to “areas with low potential for exposure”, assigning it a low risk of transmission.

The website of the Ministry of Health recommends vaccination against yellow fever.

We have telephoned several international health centres — including Hospital Clínic de Barcelona and the Generalitat's health services — and compared their advice with information travellers received from similar centres elsewhere in Spain. The advice is contradictory.

Is there anyone who can shed some light on this matter?
