Subject: All going well in Egypt
From Dakhla, en route to Luxor and Aswan… a short report on the trip.
The plane wasn’t full… but the few travellers flying to Cairo were full of excitement and completely at ease…

On Saturday evening, after your local representative dropped me at the hotel on the Avenue of the Pyramids in the Huza area, I went for a quiet walk. No problems, not even police or military on the streets. Not wanting to miss Barça–Madrid, I went into a bar for dinner and the match. The customers welcomed me warmly, even though most supported Madrid… he he! I stayed until 12 midnight. Walking back to the hotel, I saw no checkpoints or disturbances…

It is such a shame! Fear of danger, unrest and revolution has left the country without tourists. Yet now is the best time to visit: everyone wants to explain how positive the revolution has been, and they eagerly await the change of government between August and September, hoping for improvement and a free country open to the world.
