Oman during the early December holiday break
Ready to discover Oman’s treasures, from mountains to the heart of Rub al Khali, over Spain’s December long weekend?
The date of departure of 2 December 2025 is ideal for combining with the Constitution Day long weekend, turning a few days off into a Expedition to South Oman 10 days without using too much annual leave: a perfect way to discover authentic Oman!

The Three Faces of Oman in 10 Days
This expedition explores the geographical contrasts that define the sultanate:
- Hajar Mountains and the North Coast: We'll explore Muscat, we'll climb the Djebel Shams – the Hajar summit – to admire Arabia’s Grand Canyon and discover the cultural importance of Nizwa and its popular fort and market.
- The vastness of the desert: We'll live in the desert Wahiba Sands. Full immersion comes in the south, as we enter the overwhelming Rub Al Khali (the Empty Quarter), where we will spend a memorable night at a permanent Bedouin camp, reaching the region by 4×4.
- The Tropic of the South: Dhofar and Incense: The trip culminates in the unique province of Dhofar. Here you will discover the Omani tropics with white sand beaches in Salalah. This region is the land of frankincense; we visit the Wadi Dawka – a UNESCO World Heritage Site – and explore the ruins of Sumhuram harbour.

Details of the Expedition
- Special accommodation: We combine comfortable 3/4-star city hotels with quality permanent camps in the desert.
- Transport: We use minibuses for the basic route, but we use 4×4 vehicles for mountain excursions and desert.
- Difficulty: No special physical preparation is needed. Gentle walks include the Balcony Walk on Jebel Shams and wadis with pools to enjoy.
