7 reasons you’ll prefer travelling solo

Since many of us are used to discover the world always with company, to set off for travel alone It's a adventure which often presents a challenge. But did you know that 4 out of 10 people travelling in our groups join us on their own? Travelling on your own has many advantages. We know this, which is why we offer the opportunity to travelling solo as part of a small group people, who often also travel independently, without a partner, friends or any ties.

Advantages and reasons for travelling alone (and in a small group)

1 – Your group, your new friends

You start the travel alone And you end up very well accompanied. In all of our years of experience We have witnessed some lovely stories. Friendships forged on travel that last forever, inseparable groups and even the occasional love story.

“The group was very good overall. Travelling alone is merely a formality: the atmosphere quickly makes you feel part of the group.” – Alicia, Travel to Cuba 2013.

2 – A tailor made journey

No more negotiations: you can finally organise the trip exactly as you want. When travel alone, you will avoid all those parts of trip what you usually do to please your companions. This time you planned it, just for yourself.

The good atmosphere in our group, mostly from Barcelona and Madrid, deserves a mention. Long bus journeys prompted deep conversations about religion, politics and travel, with mutual understanding and respect. – Txema, Travel to Iran.

3 – Time for yourself

How long has it been since you took a few days for yourself? We spend so much time with others in daily life that sometimes we need time alone. Travel alone is a way to get this break.

“I got on wonderfully with the group. We were very close-knit, with a great atmosphere. I especially appreciated the guide’s commitment and attentiveness throughout.” – J.B, Travel to Australia 2015.

4 – A personal experience

We know that when we travel with someone, our companion provides us with security and confidence. For this reason, travel alone It is a challenge, a personal challenge that one wants to overcome alone. It's your thing, so it's no use sharing. And since it is not shared, satisfaction is twice as much.

«“The highlights were the different ethnic groups, wonderful landscapes, a fantastic guide, experienced drivers and very pleasant travelling companions with whom I will certainly keep in touch.” – Catalina, Travel to Ethiopia 2015.

5 – Double intensity

Facing adventure alone brings out your most authentic self, changing how you relate to others and act. The solo travellers support each other, replacing the practical and emotional support we rely on at home. This makes every experience new and twice as intense.

“The best part was the bond between people who had not known each other before — truly rewarding. Our guide was lovely, with admirable patience.” – Montserrat, trip to Slovakia 2015.

6 – The dates of the trip

Coordinating dates with our travel companions is already a adventure, often ending in a headache. When you plan a solo trip, your own calendar is the only one that counts.

«I especially enjoyed it, and there were lovely people in the group. Overall, spending time together was very pleasant.» - Manel, Trip to Finland 2016.

7 – What happens on the trip, stays on the trip.

No one will ever know what really happened. You can claim you reached the summit first when you lagged behind all the way, or conceal the slip that landed you in the river in front of everyone. Yours is the only version people at home will hear, so seize the chance to become a hero.

«The best part of the trip was the group of people I went with, and as activities, trekking is perhaps what I liked the most.» – CPL, Travel to Tanzania 2015.

With all these reasons and opinions, you should already have decided to travel alone. And if not, look at the great travellers in history; do you think Christopher Columbus set off to discover America with his friends? Charles Darwin didn’t coordinate dates with his partner before joining the Beagle expedition either. Nor could Marco Polo have spent 24 years travelling if he had included someone else in his plans. They all set off alone, and working with a group, they discovered something that changed how we see the world today.

In Viajes Tuareg We offer you a great diversity of destinations to whom you can travel alone as part of a small group.
