Possibly one of Georgia’s best trekking routes and the Caucasus.

The Caucasus rises here to 5,000 m, with Orthodox monasteries and reminders of the former USSR at every turn—Stalin was Georgian. The fantastic Svaneti trek covers 4 stages through magnificent landscapes, sharing accommodation and delicious food with local people.

What's waiting for us in Georgia?

  • 4 days on foot: From Mestia to Ushguli
The Caucasus’s most popular trek, thanks to spectacular scenery and accessibility.
  • Grandma's kitchen.
During the walk, we stayed and ate in local homes.
  • Orthodox Christians
Magnificent monasteries, medieval icons and distinctive Eastern spirituality.
  • Svaneti's defensive towers
According to UNESCO: An exceptional landscape that has preserved its medieval appearance.

THE TREKKING

A gradual ascent of around 60 km from Mestia at 1500 m to Ushguli at 2,400 m. The trail crosses three passes, totalling +4,000 m/-2800 m of ascent and descent. Over 4 days, we walk 4 to 7 hours daily, with no more than 900 m of elevation change.

DIFFICULTY LEVEL
Grade B (moderate). No technical difficulties; the two middle stages involve around 7 hours of walking and 800 m of elevation gain. Suitable for people accustomed to mountain walking

COMFORT
We eat and sleep in local family homes along the way. A support vehicle delivers luggage at the end of each stage.
