16 June, International Day of the African Child

«When elephants fight, it is grass that suffers»

– African proverb

With this African proverb today we want to join the celebration of the International Day of the African Child, and of girls too. We know we are all a little tired of “days of...» but here is our small tribute, because we love Africa and supporting their children means investing in their future.

In this day we commemorate what happened in Soweto, South Africa, in 1976, when hundreds of students died and more than a thousand were injured in protest against a education dignified and in their own language.

Today is an opportunity to reflect and to draw Western countries’ attention to the situation of children in Africa, some of whom face extreme poverty, disease, conflict and political instability every day. This year, the day focuses on protecting their rights.

On our travels we've seen everything. From Gabon a Ethiopia, from Morocco a South Africa, there is a vast continent full of people whom the West must not forget, especially the most vulnerable, who suffer the consequences of our actions — mere battles between elephants.
