Northern Adventure in Finnish Lapland

Our aim on this trip is to see and photograph the Northern Lights and we’ll do so with Ignasi Rovira who will be responsible for accompanying us during this journey. He will be the one who, in the afternoon, will tell us about this phenomenon and give us practical advice on how to photograph them.

Since the northern lights are visible at night, weather permitting, we will use the daylight hours to enjoy excursions and activities typical of winter in the Lapland. And do not worry about the cold: before the activities begin, the organisers provide everyone with thermal clothing, consisting of a thermal suit, thick mittens and boots with inner liners.

Specialist local guides accompany us on excursions. They teach us to ice fishing or driving a snowmobile. Perhaps the most enriching part is the survival skills we learn, such as finding a sheltered spot to light a fire and grill sausages in the snow

In Finland, the sauna has gone beyond tradition to become almost a religion, and anyone without one is completely lost. As tradition dictates, you must roll naked in snow or plunge into a Frozen lake after an intense steam bath.

Snowshoe expedition

There are very easy trails requiring no effort. But if we enjoy the adventure, there are also more demanding trails that allow us to get into the forest with our snowshoes and enjoy some landscapes truly amazing.

Once armed harnesses and after a brief introduction we took the reins and went into the forest. All you can hear are the barking and the sound of paws of dogs on the snow; driving a dog sled immerses you in nature (and brings to mind the tales of Jack London)

Formerly, the only form of transportation in winter for people with Lapland It was the sled pulled by reindeer, sometimes forming a caravan of 25–30 reindeer. A traditional and quiet way to travel through snowy landscapes where the only sound is the bells of reindeer

After a few simple lessons on its handling, we drive the snowmobiles heading north towards a remote frozen lake. There we'll try our luck with ice fishing. The result does not matter, the aim is to surround ourselves with the exoticism of theArctic nature. At the end, we will a bonfire And we will have a chance to cook the fish we catch.
