Meet the Kyrgyz, the nomadic people who travel through the valleys and mountains of Kyrgyzstan along with his cattle.
Kyrgyz society has historically been organised into clans and family tribes. The yurt has traditionally been the home of nomadic Kyrgyz people and remains important in their culture. Their extraordinary hospitality gives us a chance to learn about life in their camps and discover how they carry out daily tasks in traditional ways.

We learn how to erect a yurt while helping to put one up.
Kyrgyzstan is a land of nature and an important former Silk Road crossroads, now a favourite with many travellers. This Easter, we suggest travelling around Lake Issyk Kul, one of the country’s most iconic lakes, surrounded by the Tian Shan. Its clear waters reflect the blue sky like an infinite mirror.

The Kyrgyz have a deep connection to Lake Issyk-Kul. As well as providing water and grazing for livestock, it is an important economic and tourism centre for local communities.
Lake Issyk-Kul is fundamental to the life and identity of Kyrgyz people.

Kyrgyzstan, the Kyrgyz nation
Located between the deserts of Uzbekistan and the steppes of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan is popularly known as the “Switzerland of Asia”, home to two great mountain ranges: the Tien Shan and Pamir. This Central Asian region has great ethnic diversity, and the ever-present yurts remind us that nomadism remains common.
Kyrgyz culture is rich and varied, with a long tradition of music, poetry, dance and visual art.

The Tian Shan Mountains cover approximately 80% of the territory and constitute one of the highest mountain ranges in the world, with peaks exceeding 7,000 meters high. Kyrgyzstan It has an ethnically diverse population, where the Kyrgyz make up about 70 per cent, while the Uzbeks, Russians and other minorities make up the rest.
An extremely peaceful destination that has a perfect balance between remoteness, authenticity and a unique tourist infrastructure.
Recent estimates put Kyrgyzstan’s population at approximately 6.5 million. It covers around 199,951 km², a little less than half the area of Spain.
