Eclipse Mission: Total Solar Eclipse

Another exceptional astronomical event is approaching, and thousands of travellers from around the world are already packing their bags to travel to the best place to see it: Cairns, Australia.

This total solar eclipse will be difficult to observe. On land, it will only be visible across northern Australia, from the Northern Territory to Queensland’s Cape York Peninsula, passing over the Gulf of Carpentaria before disappearing into the Pacific Ocean.

ECLIPSE MISSION, a group of scientists and astronomy enthusiasts travelling the world in search of extraordinary phenomena, has chosen the area around Oak Beach, on the road between Cairns and Port Douglas. From here, they propose observing the eclipse for its full two minutes and five seconds.

Following our tradition of going around the world in seek the extraordinary, we offer this spectacular combination of science and adventure: unique astronomical phenomena in remarkable settings such as the Great Barrier Reef and Australia’s Red Centre, accompanied by experienced specialists.

If you missed the trip to Easter Island to see the last total eclipse of the sun, in July 2010, and you don't want to wait until the next one, here's your chance:
