Founded in 2015: Open Arms, an NGO with the mission to monitor the sea, to protect and rescue people who try to get to Europe fleeing war, persecution or poverty. From the outset, we have found the organisation’s work essential and deeply moving; its mission has nothing to do with politics. People are drowning at sea and must be rescued. No one can argue with that.
And soon we realized that Our admiration is not enough.. Open Arms receives no government or institutional financial support, relying on private donations to continue its work. In 2018, we decided start collaborating with Open Arms, doing our bit to support their mission by donating €1 for every passenger who travelled with us that year.
S.O.S. A life-saving engine.
The Open Arms is a 50-year-old tugboat. In the last 2 years, this vessel has been used in rescue missions that saved more than 6,000 lives. But Open Arms has reached its limit: increasingly frequent repairs mean it is no longer safe to sail. Without a ship, there is no mission; without a mission, no rescue. We can't leave them adrift.

The continuity of Open Arms is at risk. #SalvaOpenArms
The #SalvaOpenArms campaign is raising funds to buy a ship and continue its essential work of saving lives in the Mediterranean. After a month, Open Arms has raised almost €500,000, but much remains to reach its goal. We've already joined, can you help us?
