Viajes Tuareg: reviews of our Iran trip

Iran is one of the most historically rich destinations you can visit. It is known as the cradle of Western civilisation and a crossroads for many cultures and peoples. Its geographical position and vast underground oil reserves make Iran a key player in international relations. Fortunately, in recent years its differences with other powers and states have been resolved peacefully through negotiation, leaving dark chapters of its history behind.

Would you like to explore Iran? We have departures in October, November and December, plus a special New Year trip to Iran.

Now Iran An appealing destination for travellers wishing to understand its character and discover its iconic cities, and for those seeking to walk an oasis surrounded by the desert, with outstanding Islamic architecture and cultured, hospitable people who surprise travellers in Isfahan, Yazd or Shiraz.

In Persepolis await impressive Persian remains: palaces and stone reliefs recalling Xerxes, Darius I and Alexander the Great.

But it's in the capital, Tehran, where tradition and modern life mingle every day; a meeting of two civilisations living side by side. Its old bazaar has more than 10 km of alleyways, courtyards and shops, alongside the Sa’d Abad museums: 18 palaces and the Shah's former residence. In the streets, shop windows and squares, two eras coexist in the present, to the travel to Iran.

A comprehensive tour, extraordinary guide and wonderful country.

The best of the trip: People living in Iran.

Very good. Excellent guide, driver and companions. Perhaps I would spend a full day in Yazd, though that would lengthen the trip by a day.

The best of the trip: Beyond the cultural and architectural riches, Iranians’ hospitality and courtesy… It has been a very positive experience. Iranians deserve international respect, undermined by distorted information.

Iran is a wonderful discovery: every step is full of history, and its welcoming people make sure you know it. The route is well planned, and following the dress requirements is not so difficult.

The best of the trip: Persepolis in Shiraz, the Towers of Silence in Yazd and an evening walk in Imam Square, Isfahan.

We loved the trip and returned delighted.
Everything was wonderful. We loved the country and its people. The itinerary was excellent, as were the hotels, fellow travellers and guide, who was knowledgeable, attentive and friendly.

The best of the trip: We had not taken a group trip for a long time and were a little hesitant, but thoroughly enjoyed it.

I chose an unusual destination such as Iran because of its cinema, whose depth I love. The trip confirmed that depth in its people, history and Persian culture, far exceeding my initial expectations.

The best of the trip: Iranian people, for their kindness and their curiosity to talk with tourists, and the stunning sites, especially Persepolis and Isfahan.

Persepolis and Isfahan are the trip’s highlights. The drive from Shiraz to Kerman is exhausting; flying would be better, even if it made the trip more expensive.

The best of the trip: The local people, for their kindness and friendliness

Great! It's a country to visit. Not only for its immense cultural heritage, but for its people, who make this journey a very special experience. To have a duration of twelve days, the itinerary is very complete: we were able to get to know cities, places and points of interest very different from each other and to get a general idea of this wonderful country.

The best of the trip: Everything!

Fascinating to discover mysterious Iran, a country poorly treated by the media with so much beauty to reveal. The itinerary introduces its artistic and, above all, human richness.

The best of the trip: The tranquility and security of the country. The kindness of Iranians, welcoming and generous to the few tourists who, for the moment, visit the country. The local guide, Reza, is a great professional, helpful and attentive to any need. With the traveling companions, the coexistence has been great. I hope to find them next time.

A spectacular, highly recommended and comprehensive trip, though a little extra time would allow a visit to Cyrus’s tomb at Pasargadae and another night in charming Yazd.

The best of the trip: Visiting Persepolis and the Achaemenid tombs of Naqsh-e Rostam.

Given the time available, the itinerary is varied and comprehensive, covering the country’s main highlights.

The best of the trip: Esfahan, Persepolis.

Very good. screenshot of Iran. An introduction to Tehran would be useful: it is too large to explore on foot, but a hop-on hop-off tour would help us get our bearings, especially as we arrived at night.

The best of the trip: The comfortable bus and friendly driver and guide. Though the guide’s Spanish was not fluent, he communicated well. I wish my Farsi were as good as his Spanish!

Iran is a wonderful surprise. Our preconceptions turn out to be deeply misleading, showing how poorly informed we can be despite great freedom of information. I highly recommend it: it joyfully broadens your view of the world, makes you love life and the universe, feel part of the whole and live sincerely. That feels especially valuable today. In Iran, I was made to feel at home.

The best of the trip: Above all, the people: charming, friendly, kind, smiling and open, far from the image of religious fanaticism that reaches us from afar. Then there are countless cultural, artistic and architectural jewels, each with its own charm. Some stand out, such as Persepolis or Isfahan’s vast, colourful, lively square and monuments. Yet I would highlight just as strongly the smaller treasures: old brick mosques, palaces, adobe houses and unexpected passageways
