428 PHOTOGRAPHS
Best travel photos 2025
Although many submitted photographs could have won prizes, Rosa María Calaf, this year’s judge, has now reached her verdict.
First prize for photography
800 euros prize for Ignasi Estruch
Norway, Looking for Polar Bears

“This image captures the moment when a journey becomes an exploration. Its composition places the viewer just behind the guide’s gaze, immersing us in the vastness of the Norwegian Arctic. The contrast between the colours of technical clothing and the endless white adds modernity while emphasising the human presence in untamed nature.
It is a direct invitation to seek out remote places, where every element — from the ship on the horizon to the safety equipment — tells a story of preparation, respect for the environment and adrenaline. An ode to human curiosity and the spirit of discovery in the planet’s most extreme landscapes.”
Second prize for photography
Second prize of 500 euros for Iraida Tortosa
Laughing my head off at a Samarkand flea market

“This image, captured in the heart of Samarkand, is not just seen: it is felt and heard. Rich in symbolism, it plays on the contrast between the formal historical portraits on the wall, the man’s spontaneous laughter, the visitor searching for a translation on their phone and the local youth’s friendly gesture.
The real journey lies in the encounter. Here, framed by echoes of the past in the form of antiques, intercultural dialogue comes through laughter, a mobile phone and a desire to help that breaks every barrier. We travel to collect moments, and this could well be one of them. A testament to the richness that emerges when we stop to share.”
Third prize for photography
Third prize of 300 euros for Ivan Fernández
Nepal - Hygiene

«This photograph transports us to life at the ends of the Earth. It is a unique image, capturing everyday life in a setting as remote and majestic as the Himalayas. It is powerfully immersive, placing us directly in a community’s daily life.
It is a work that asks us to pause, observe and connect with the essence of life in some of the planet's most extreme places. The hanging clothes, the water container, the crouching man… these elements tell a story of resilience and connection with nature. Here, the simple act of washing becomes poetic and evocative.»
Video contest award
First prize of 1,000 euros for Iván Fernández
Over the clouds
In the “Let me tell you about a trip” category, with a prize of €1,000, the winner is Ivan Fernández for his video Over the clouds, made during his “Everest Base Camp Trek” trip to Nepal on 8 November. The mountain images are impressive, and their contrast with the vitality of Kathmandu reveals Nepal’s two sides. A beautifully made video that we all enjoyed.
Although it did not win, we must mention Casildo Pastelero’s video of his Mauritania trip, “Viure és urgent”. Its images convey the joy of life, brightening the day even for pessimists. Exactly what we hope for from a trip.
Category: “A moment on the journey”
First prize of 1,000 euros for Eduardo García
Korgi schoolchildren
In the new “A moment from the trip” category (prize of 700€), Eduardo García won with “Korgi schoolchildren”, filmed on his Colombia trip departing on 5 September. We loved Eduardo’s polite gesture of giving way to these children, who walk much faster without poles, boots or any sports equipment.
We were also impressed by Santiago Colobatto’s video “Opening of Naadam”, filmed in Mongolia. The ceremony’s grandeur and spectacular staging briefly transport us to classic Hollywood… we almost expect to see Elizabeth Taylor make a triumphant entrance as Cleopatra.
