Injuries? No thanks!

I've been injured for a week, a week of absolute rest, a week of vacation or punishment...

With little time left before I leave for Morocco, I have developed a muscle strain. I have seen a couple of doctors, and the second has left me feeling more reassured than the first. Honestly, there is little to do for muscle injuries except rest and more rest. That is what I meant at the start of this post: holiday or punishment?

The countdown has begun, and nerves are starting to build. Only two weeks remain before flying to Ouarzazate. What better way to relax than running and burning off energy? But when you are injured and told to rest, that option disappears; the days pass and anxiety grows. I am climbing the walls, my blood boiling. Breaking a routine can leave you disoriented, with the foundations beneath you beginning to shake. At times, you can feel like Nicolas Cage in Leaving Las Vegas.

I went swimming today to calm my nerves. Swimming is recommended for muscle injuries: the water gently caresses and massages you. It supports the body like a giant cushion, allowing us to glide with varying degrees of skill. Movements are gentle and cushioned, making injury while swimming difficult.

In the cool water, moving like a frog, I thought again: “How far I am from the arid desert!”
