What to see in Alaska in autumn

Alaska at the end of summer and early autumn displays incredibly photogenic landscapes. Eduardo Blanco Mendizábal will guide us on this expedition to capture autumn colours, imposing glaciers and local wildlife, with opportunities to photograph the Northern Lights. The highlight is an exciting seaplane trip to Brooks Falls to watch bears catching salmon at the waterfalls.

Denali National Park. Eduardo Blanco

The mountains. The views. The wildlife. In the vast Alaskan wilderness, Denali is the jewel in the crown among National Parks of the United States.

Covering more than 6 million acres, this vast park encompasses Denali’s summit, glaciers, forests and surrounding foothills. It is home to Bears, wolves, lynx, moose, caribou, Dall sheep and migratory birds.

On the way to Fairbanks. Eduardo Blanco

To get to Fairbanks, we will tour the famous Parks Highway north through Nenana, where we will stop to photograph the confluence of tributaries of the Yukon, Tanana and Nenana.

Slana. Eduardo Blanco

A majestic landscape at the foot of the Mount Sanford, surrounded by lakes, forests and large rivers. We sleep in cabins and, weather permitting, watch the famous northern lights, better known as Northern Lights.

Trapper. Eduardo Blanco

We'll spend one day with Steve the Trapper to discover their way of life and listen to their stories. He lives isolated with his wife in a cabin in the Alaskan woods. Hunting, fishing and tanning skins; a real 21st-century trapper.

Valdez. Eduardo Blanco

From here we will go on a cruise that will take us to the Columbia Glacier, one of the largest and most representative glaciers flowing into the sea on the coast of Alaska. We will see sea lions, seals, whales and countless seabirds. The possibility of seeing Bears and the salmon run is very high near Valdez where there are many rivers that flow to the Ocean in this area of the coast of Prince William Sound.

Bears. Eduardo Blanco

We can make an optional excursion by plane to the peninsula of Katmai / Lake Clark, legendary place where bears gather to catch salmon swimming upriver.
