A new edition of our Photography and Video Competition is underway

The world through your gaze.

Entries for the competition have closed, with 135 participants submitting photographs and videos. Our voting now begins to select the 20 finalist images. An independent expert jury will then choose the three winners from the finalists.

We received 17 entries in the video competition. The Tuareg team will choose the winner by a simple formula: each of our 15 team members gets one vote, and the video with most votes wins.

We hope to have the results a few days before Easter.

A professional photographer and traveller, Tino has reported for national and international magazines for more than three decades and won numerous photography awards, including Photopress and World Press Photo. He has also written several photography books.

Tino Soriano has agreed to judge this edition. We are proud to have one of the country's leading photographers judging the awards. It seems a good way to thank you for taking part.

A reflection on the winning photographs

Recent editions were judged by respected journalists such as Mayka Navarro and Maricel Chavarria. This year retains that prestige, with a judge whose background is closer to professional photography.
This change is intriguing. However different the winning photographs in previous competitions, they often tell a story. Animal portraits and postcard landscapes, though common among high-quality finalists, rarely win prizes.

Will the same type of photograph win if it changes the jury profile? It will be interesting to see the result this year.
