The Svalbard archipelago is the northernmost European territory accessible to a non-professional expedition. Fjords, glaciers and abundant wildlife — polar bears, walruses, migratory birds… — await visitors during the short polar summer. This fascinating land in Europe’s remote north opens to visitors for that brief season.
The Northern Lights, those glowing green lights appear on a clear night, dancing across the sky in a fascinating, incredible display. Nothing compares with the emotion of seeing an aurora sweep across the sky for the first time. The cold no longer matters; we forget hunger and every other need. No matter how late it is, we stay as long as this magical dance lasts.
It is likely that many trips to Norway that you have heard of are in the Norwegian fjords near Bergen or Stavanger. These are the most popular fjords, which fill with tourists every year. After all, the Norwegian fjords in summer are a major attraction for visitors flying to this Nordic country, or spending their holidays in the fjords aboard one of the many cruise ships that sail along the coast in summer. The famous Preikestolen, or Pulpit Rock, is a particularly popular sight on the Lysefjord, near Stavanger.
