February is one of those months in which choosing the destination can completely transform the journey.
While winter blankets northern Europe in snow, Patagonia is in the height of the southern summer. In Tanzania, the great herds gather between Ndutu and the Serengeti; in Mexico, monarch butterflies coincide with whale season; and Japan offers a quieter side with fewer tourists.

Sometimes we're lucky. In February two extraordinary natural phenomena coincide: millions of butterflies come to the forests of the state of Mexico (Edomex, not to be confused with Mexico City), hundreds of grey whales come to the waters of Baja California to give birth and nurse their young.
Northern Finland is one of Europe’s last wilderness areas. We will explore the boreal forest on foot and discover Finnish culture: sausages and coffee around a fire, tracking wild animals and a revitalising sauna. After the day’s activities, weather permitting, we will head out to watch the northern lights from one of the designated viewing areas. Statistically, we will be in one of the best places to see them.
