For those lucky enough to travel out of season, there are still places in February on one of our favourite trips: Tanzania. The Great Spectacle of Migration
One of the greatest wildlife spectacles; near 750,000 zebras and more than one million wildebeest move regularly between the Ngorongoro and Serengeti conservation areas. In this trip We will have front-row seats for this spectacle of the animal kingdom.
An exciting moment: In mid-February the herds of wildebeest and zebras move around the plains of Ndutu. At this time Wildebeest calves are born and the action is guaranteed; the explosion of life is spectacular and predators are stalking of this gigantic larder on the move.
A wildlife spectacle we will watch from front-row seats, also including a spectacular Walking safari in Serengeti National Park

ON THE GREAT MIGRATION
WHAT IS IT?
One of the natural world's most spectacular events. Around 750,000 zebras and 1 million wildebeest move in search of fresh grass brought by the rains. Large carnivores follow this vast moving source of food.
WHERE DOES IT TAKE PLACE?
The Great Migration follows a circular route. Animals move clockwise from Serengeti National Park in northern Tanzania to the Maasai Mara Reserve in southern Kenya, then back to the Serengeti. The precise timing depends on the rains and other factors.
WHAT ANIMALS CAN WE SEE?
Wildebeest, Thomson’s gazelles and zebras gather in herds, finding safety in numbers. Predators follow, moving in search of food despite being territorial rather than migratory.

ENCOUNTERING THE MIGRATION
WHEN
Between February and March, the great herds of herbivores move between the southern Serengeti and the Ndutu plains. Wildebeest calves are born at this time, and action is guaranteed
WHERE WE GO
In northern Tanzania, on the Ndutu plains in the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. We will also visit the Serengeti, Ngorongoro Crater and Lake Manyara
WHERE WE STOP
A combination of Tented camps and hotels. Comfort and contact with nature.
TRANSPORT
We will use safari-adapted 4×4 vehicles with pop-up roofs. Every passenger will have a window seat.
DIFFERENCE WITH OTHER SAFARIS
The aim is to observe herds of herbivores and predators in an area where wildlife is concentrated. We reduce driving distances to spend more time with the animals.
ACCOMPANYING GUIDE
Travelling with a safari specialist who knows the area well adds value to an already spectacular journey.

A shame we had some bad luck with the weather.

Overall, the trip was well organised; the routes and accommodation were more than satisfactory.
We really enjoyed the safaris in Serengeti and Ngorongoro parks.
Excellent marks to all the hotel and wild-camp staff for their commitment to good service.
We felt very well looked after.
THE BEST PART OF THE TRIP: the safaris and the Serengeti camp locations. Everyone at Zara Tours was very attentive, better than Zennit. Even so, both met our expectations.
The assessment is very good, excellent for Zara Tours.
I must highlight the expertise and friendliness of our park guide, Isaac, who became a friend.

Overall assessment of the trip: good
The accommodation on safari is much better than expected. Days are hot, but mornings and nights—especially in Ngorongoro—require warm clothes.
Safari accommodation is much better than expected. Daytime temperatures are high, but mornings and evenings, especially in Ngorongoro, call for warm clothing.
THE BEST PART OF THE TRIP: Serengeti and the national parks, especially the Serengeti, where we hugely enjoyed the nature of Tanzania and its animals. The safari hotels were very good, although we did not make much use of them.

Totally satisfied with this journey that has surpassed my expectations.
An excellent trip, letting us observe large concentrations of wildlife, including predators, without long journeys.
We particularly valued the flexibility of the route, which adapted to follow the herds, and the mix of camping days and other accommodation.
As the main negative point, the bad condition of the car in which we made the route.
